B2 1 – 12 As in B1 but with 1st man working with 3rd couple and 1st lady with 2nd for the hey and Left Hand Turn. All should finish proper.

Note:
Although this need not be taken too slowly, it should have more of the character of the Minuet than of the Waltz. Musicians should take care to make the third beat of the bar really lead into the next in order to give the necessary flow to carry the dancers along. Each movement of the A music should be exactly phrased, whereas the movements of the B music should flow into each other much more; though, of course, at the end of B1 there should be a brief instant of rest when everyone is on the wrong side of the set. The 1st couples after their left hand turn at the end of B1 should not go straight into their right hand turn the shortest way, but should fall back into their progressed places, improper, on the last bar of B1.

The set is now upside down and improper.
9 – 16 All ten circle left and right (slipping step).
B2 1 – 16 Repeat B1 from new places which brings everyone home.

All the introductory figures (A music) should be quiet and gentle. The B music should be fairly vigorous. In the First Figure B1 and B2 music, the circles should be attacked strongly with plenty of drive. Let go in time to get smoothly into the ‘crossing with arches’ figure which must be well phrased. In the Second Figure it may be necessary to alter the direction of a turn at the end of the heys to get smoothly into the circles. Ensure that the alignment on the diagonal is correct in the circles – this figure should appear really ‘abandoned’. In the Third Figure, the people falling back must be definite to fall back away from partner and angle the ‘come forward’ towards the centre (except, of course, 3rd couple) so that the circle of four gives way smoothly to the circle of six and then to the circle of ten. Each time, at the end of the large circle regain the longways formation of the set.

13 – 16 1st couple Right Hand Turn, 3rd couple Left Hand Turn while 2nd couple lead across the set and cast back, as described for the 1st couple above.
17 – 20 2nd couple Right Hand Turn, 1st couple Left Hand Turn while 3rd couple lead across the set and cast back.
Second Figure
A3 1 – 8 All side with partners (see note below) and Set and Turn Single.
A4 1 – 8 Repeat A3.
B2 1 – 20 As in B1, except that the 2nd couple starts the sequence, followed by the 3rd, then the 1st.
Third Figure
A5 1 – 8 All Arm Right with partners and Set and Turn Single.
A6 1 – 8 All Arm Left with partners and Set and Turn Single.
B3 1 – 20 As in B1, but with 3rd couple starting, followed in turn by 1st and then 2nd. All honour partners to finish.

Note:
In the second figure, the siding should be done the “old” way, as described by Cecil Sharp in the Country Dance Book. The B music of this dance is a “round” both musically and dancewise. The movements always occur in the same order viz, Right Hand Turn, Left Hand Turn and Lead Across and Cast Back to Place. In the 1st Figure it is the 1st Couple who start, in the 2nd, it is the couple on their left, i.e. 2nd couple, who begin and 3rd couple start in the 3rd Figure.
